Program: Conventional housing, Co-housing for social and temporary rental, Public Library and Co-working
In the following project, a group of dwellings is proposed and it's related to the end of the Raval neighbourhood, in tune with unique buildings of the area such as the Barcelona Maritime Museum, also known as the Royal Shipyard, and the Santa Madrona Bastion, besides the connection with Avenue of the Parallel. The main goal of the intervention is to contrast a distant landscape; the horizon and the sea, with a close and domestic landscape through the creation raised patios that remind of the street atmosphere.
The creation of a double-height free ground floor allows all the homes to surpass the horizon line of the Royal Shipyard building and enjoy the vision of the sea. In the new public space that emerges under the building, an urban forest is created establishing a dialogue with the Bastion gardens and blurring the vision of the street from inside the housing in order to emphasize a distant perspective.
The result is four deep and narrow blocks that are inspired by the old plots of Ciutat Vella and the fishermen's houses of La Barceloneta, as well as the cracks in the sky that can be seen between high buildings when walking through the narrow alleys of the Old Town. Despite the desire to rise as independent blocks, the dwellings create a single piece, since the access core sews the buildings diagonally with a system of exterior walkways that rise and create the sensation of having each house at street level.

Construction strategy
A GRC panel facade is designed that emphasizes the verticality provided by the pillars of the metal framework, and continuous thermal insulation throughout the envelope in order to avoid thermal bridges. A cantilever free of the structure is also proposed to generate a balcony and having a system of filters with taut ropes. This system is mobile due to a pulley mechanism, also allowing a fixed railing position.
